  1. Cheering you both on from Houston!! I couldn't find "vernissage" in my Webster's Dictionary...please give me the Canadian definition. :-) Love your work! Will your pieces be for sale or just for exhibition? Wishing much success!! Wish I could be there.

  2. Thanks so much for your enthusiasm, Venetta. Almost all the work at the show is for sale, though sales have been poor the last couple of years.

I think the literal translation of "vernissage" is "varnishing". I seem to remember being told that in the studios of Paris, a special invitation was sent out to good clients and friends to come and see the work as it was being given its last varnishing before hanging in a formal exhibition. So it is used now to mean "opening reception", sometimes by invitation only, and usually with lots of wine! Which raises the question of just who is getting varnished or shellacked!

  4. You girls are so talented. I love the trio of pieces, Michele.
Heather you are so on the right track at the moment with your style of minimalist interpretation. Best wishes for a very successful exhibition.
